Authorities say a Jonesborough man is facing multiple charges after leading officers on a high-speed chase through traffic heading to Bristol Motor Speedway. Bluff City Police say 32-year-old Johnny Ray Garland has been charged with reckless endangerment, evading arrest, resisting arrest, two counts of possession of narcotics, driving on a revoked license, no proof of insurance, illegal use of a license plate, driving an unregistered vehicle and being a fugitive from justice. Police say he was stopped in a 1999 Pontiac Sunbird on Saturday for driving recklessly and drove away during the traffic stop.
Officers say Garland led them on a pursuit through heavy traffic
headed to the race before he fled on foot and was apprehended.
He IS being held on $10,000 bond at the Sullivan County Jail.
