Sullivan County Authorities Have Received Several Reports Recently Concerning A Phone Scam. The Caller Pretends To Be With Internal Revenue Service And Tells The Person They Have Not Paid Their Taxes In Five Years, And That They Will Be Arrested Within The Hour If They Do Not Pay Up By Credit Card Over The Phone. Sullivan County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Leslie Earhart Said It’s Not Uncommon For These Phone Scammers To Call Back Numerous Times Trying A New Strategy Each Time. Police Advise If You Receive Such A Call, To Hang Up Because The Irs Will Never Ask For Any Type Of Credit Card Information Over The Phone.
