Hundreds of people turned out for a march to honor a 4-year-old southwest Virginia boy who was killed while visiting his mother in Utah. The 1.5-mile event Sunday honored Ethan Stacy, whose body was found earlier this month. Utah officials say charges are pending against the boy’s mother, Stephanie Sloop, and her husband, Ryan Sloop. Authorities allege that Ryan Sloop beat the boy for days, then disfigured his face before burying his body in a mountainside grave. The walkers said they turned out in Richlands to draw attention to the problem of child abuse and to support Ethan’s father, Joe Stacy. Another march was held Saturday in Layton, Utah.
