Washington County Tennessee Authorities Say A Home Burglar Suspect Believed To Have Been Attempting To Rob Another Home In His Own Neighborhood, Is Dead After Apparently Taking His Own Life. Deputies Responded To A Residential Burglary On Bob Clark Road In Jonesboro, Where Witnesses Said The Alleged Burglar, 29 Year Old Charles David Lane, Was Still Inside The Residence. Deputies Found The Man Hidden In A Closet. When They Attempted To Place Him In Custody, Lane Reportedly Produced A Loaded Handgun And Shot Himself In The Head. Captain Shawn Judy Said Washington County Ems Was Immediately Called To The Scene. Lane Was Flown To Johnson City Medical Center, Where He Was Pronounced Dead. The Suspect Had A Long Criminal History, Involving Both Burglaries And Thefts. The Tbi Was Called In To Investigate The Incident, Since Officers Were Present At The Time The Suspect Shot Himself.
