A Search Is Underway For A Scott County Virginia Man Accused Of Shooting A Sheriff’s Deputy. Authorities Are Searching For 34 Year Old Jonathan Matt Qualls Who’s Described As Six Three And Weighing 230 Pounds. The Shooting Took Place Last Night Around Ten O’clock At A Home On Purchase Ridge In Duffield After Deputy Thomas Bowen Went There To Serve A Pair Of Warrants. Sheriff John Puckett Said When The Officer Arrived, Qualls Allegedly Jumped Off An Outside Deck And Shot The Officer. One Round Went Into Bowen’s Chest Above His Vest And One In His Right Arm. He Had To Undergo Surgery At A Kingsport Hospital But Is Expected To Recover. Sheriff Puckett Said Qualls Was Charged With Murder Before. Anyone Who Knows His Whereabouts Is Asked To Contact Authorities.
