The state will halt all construction work requiring lane closures on Tennessee interstates and state highways beginning at noon on Wednesday. The move is to help traffic flow during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The Tennessee Department of Transportation will resume work Monday. Though construction workers will not be on site, there will still be reduced speed limits in some areas. Nearly 1 million Tennesseans are expected to travel during the Thanksgiving holiday period. Of these numbers, it’s predicted that more than 748,000 will travel by car. The state is a main route between the Midwest and Florida and the Gulf Coast.
