A NEW MEDICAL FACILITY COULD BE COMING TO THE TRI CITIES SOON. OFFICIALS WITH WELLMONT HEALTH SYSTEM SAY THEY PLAN TO BUILD A MEDICAL COMPLEX IN THE BOONES CREEK SECTION OF WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE. THE WELLMONT EMERGENCY CARE AND DIAGNOSTIC CENTER WILL REDUCE EMERGENCY ROOM WAIT TIMES AND IMPROVE ACCESS TO PRIMARY CARE AND SPECIALITY PHYSICIANS. WELLMONT WILL SEEK STATE APPROVAL AND FILE A CERTIFICATE OF NEED APPLICATION FOR THE FACILITY. THE 41-MILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT WILL INCLUDE A 24-HOUR EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AND A MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDING FOR DOCTORS. MEANWHILE, OFFICIALS WITH MOUNTAIN STATES HEALTH ALLIANCE PLAN TO OPPOSE THE CERTIFICATE OF NEED.
